The Atlas has 2,000-5,000lbs of towing capacity. With the standard 2.0L engine under the hood, you’ll be able to haul up to a maximum of 2,000 pounds. However, if you go for the optional 4MOTION® 3.6L V6 engine, your Atlas will have a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds. Those engines can be used for most Atlas trim levels except for the SEL R-Line and SEL Premium R-Line trim levels, that can only equip the 3.6-liter V6.
The standard horsepower for the Atlas is 235 HP. This is the standard created from a 2.0-liter Turbocharged 4cyl powertrain that’s paired with an 8-speed auto, and it also produces 258 lb-ft of torque for endless oomph. An available 266 lb-ft of torque and 276 horsepower get produced from an available 3.6L V6 powertrain.
The Atlas has a 4,262-4,605 pound curb weight. Both the SE with Technology and the SE models have a curb weight of 4,262lbs as the trims equip similar features. The Volkswagen Atlas SEL Premium R-Line also lists a curb weight of 4,262 pounds as well, while the SEL trim level curb weight is 4,451lbs, and 4,605lbs for the SEL R-Line.
The Atlas ground clearance is 7.1in. This amount of space stays the same on every Atlas trim listing 7.1 inches of ground clearance. Ideal to handle every situation and it completes the stylish appearance the Atlas wants.
